Experiences of the world of work

A Work Experience Programme is one of many pre-entry employment routes employers can offer.  Work experience and work placements are such a valuable experience for young people.  Providing young people with their first experiences of work.  It helps inform future career decisions, builds knowledge, character, and future employability skills.

What is a Work Experience Programme?

Work experience placements are designed to help bridge the transition between education and the world of work. Most work experience can be through “who you know” but how about the children that do not have those connections?

Work experience is unpaid and undertaken by students in Year 10 (14-15 years old) or above.  It can be undertaken as a one or two week block, usually in June.  Or it can be extended over a longer period for one or two days a week to compliment other studies.

By providing placements, your business can build lasting connections with local education providers and communities.

Our schools always welcome direct approaches from local employers and you can find the careers contact at your local school here Careers Hub (arcgis.com) By engaging with local schools and students you can increase visibility of your organisation and the career pathways you offer.  In return you can gain access to a future talent pipeline.
